Melbourne-Darwin Day 18 / Edith Falls – Litchfield National Park 232km

Screen Shot 2015-03-16 at 20.43.14(2015/03/12) … more closer we got to Darwin, more humidity faced us. The hike around the Edith Falls was skipped by most of us, we preferred to start with the bike early. The Horst’s, of course, decided to walk around and start later in the heat. Tobi also walked around the falls(because they always have to wait for the Horst’s, so why not using this also for a hike) and the upper pools, so i got at least some pictures what i had missed on this morning. The most  “spectacular” thing for today was Charlie, the Water Buffalo (sadly now dead and stuffed on top of the bar) from the movie Crocodile Dundee in the Adelaide River Inn Pub. What also can face you on a highway? A house! Tobi in our service car had this “problem” and took a picture.

The Banyan Tree Campground is driven by an German who lives in Aussie since ages, he brought us a self-made candle (Toilette paper roll soaked up with oil) which worked pretty fine. The park it self didn’t looked like very German, it seemed that he has adopted the Aussie-Outback-Lifestyle very good. I already liked to sleep in the tent without the second sheet, but in the last days it was really muggy and hot, almost no wind, so sleeping without any tent net or sheet would be best. Mossies (Mosquitos) and other insects let you think, better sleep protected by the net and sweat a bit more. It took long to fell asleep and every morning all our stuff was wet by the moisture in the morning…
