Speeding Ticket, the smell of gold in Waiuta, Hanmer Springs

(2015/02/02)…slept very well and of course long. The plans had changed, instead of staying a lot of days at a village and waiting for better weather i changed to visit Fox an Franz Joseph for a few weeks later and drive instead to the direction of Christchurch and going down the east-coast. The wind was already blowing above the mountains with about 30-40 km/h. My goal for toady was the hot springs at Hanmar Springs and get a rest for my spine and chill an the hot water for some hours. Driving in New Zealand was for me not a rush and i was used to keep the speed limits in mind. You have to know, they place two speed limit signs very close so you don’t have the chance to let the car roll down. Usually i will break immediately (like on 50 limit), but i preferred to just break a bit an let them roll down to 80.

What was that? I got busted by an cop! Why? There was an 80 zone and i was driving 95 km/h. Oh hell,i was so criminal that i was speeding! (instead of attacked by an Bitpull dog). Of Course i was to fast, there was no reason to discuss about that, and i payed my fine of $80 NZD. Ok, i got a cop, who blamed on me, so i choose the time to blame about the cops in Auckland (or NZ at all), that they didn’t had any interest in helping me after i got attacked. Even that cop gave me the same feed back i was used. “yeah, maybe there where just too busy” Busy? Of course, giving speeding and parking tickets instead of HELPING!

Not far away a sign directed me to Waiuta, a abandoned Goldmine Town from the 1906-1951, and choose to look at this. Some how i had a feeling that gold caught me. It was still nice to visit a place where half a century ago people lived there, minded hard for gold and now you couldn’t see a lot anymore. Some huts, a pool and a sports ground where left. Only one hut was remaining where someone is still living there, or using this as a holiday hut.

Headed on, a good few hours later i arrived at Hanmer Springs, a place with hot water and i really enjoyed to stay there. Hot water, what a pleasure for my feeds and spine. Oh and of course a good place to get your skin soft and cosy again. Hmmm….2 hours staying there, was like feeling being a few hours in heaven. Not far away there was an campground between the trees, you could hear the fast wind blowing through it, but the trees where so high, that at the bottom you couldn’t feel any wind and it was a very good and nice play to stay for the night…
