2 x Kiwiburn, 1x Hospital and tons of Hippies

(2015/01/18-26) …as well-known by my sisters blog, i’m not going to post any stories or pictures about the burn itself. We arrived at about 1pm the gates where we met our already known burner Bacon and we was welcomed as one of the first, not for MPW or woMAN crew working, early arrivals. Lovely greeted and welcomed by Afah we spend a round of ice cold beer and stopped there for a while. I think this was longest stop i ever did at a gate :). The upper and lower paddock was almost empty, no camp, no art or similar. Where to setup the tents? The forest, was the answer because in the last days the sun was burning down and we preferred to have a bit shade to sleep a bit longer and even relaxing for my arm.

Monday, i finished the painting of the cube and did one of the last run for supplies and one wooden rounds as poles for the hearts, which i forgot to buy. Sadly the work on the hearts and helping to unload the stuff for the Chur Camp stressed my arm a lot and started bleeding a lot under the dressing and i choose to rest for one day. Max and Martina removed on Tuesday the stitches to release the pressure on the skin, which formed an uneven ridge on the wound. I wasn’t sure if this is an good idea or not and i didn’t felt well at the moment. Max grown up on a farm in Idaho, so he gave me his medicine, a good swallow out of his whiskey bottle, and if felt already better. The wound at one end did looked very good, but the other end gaped more then i expected. No worries, on Wednesday the medic team of Kiwiburn will be there, which can help for further decisions and dressing changes.

Wednesday morning the setup for the HeArts project was completed and i was really happy about it and where it was placed.

Friday the medic team advised that it would be better to get to the next Hospital, because they wasn’t sure if the gape looks like healing or not. Usually to leave the burn is not in my intention, but it was Friday afternoon and definitely the day where you want to got to the hospital, instead of Saturday and missing the Man Burn or on Sunday  the Temple Burn. Finally it was good to visit the doc at the hospital, which strength my mind, who told me it looks good and it should heal on the air, then it will made a faster progress instead under the dressing. A ultrasound check confirmed that there is nothing under the wound, where i should be scared about. It was already getting late and i decided to choose a night in a Motel in Marton, to have a day off, have a night in a good bed, give the arm a rest, have a clean hot shower and clean toilette.  The night wasn’t cheap, but totally worth. The women behind the desk helped me to wrap my arm in food wrapping plastic and i could had a great shower.

The night in the Motel gave me new energy and i was happy to be back on Saturday for the woMAN burn.

This was definitely my most difficult burn i ever had! I really had to fight with my mind and mood, it didn’t really felt for me as a burn. At least i had one night where i had really fun and was a bit partying, but the rest i enjoyed more the people and conversations AND the continuous flow of delicious cookies from Cookie. Oh yeah, cookies helped a lot 🙂 I also have to thank the woMEN (HAG) crew, i really enjoyed to stay with them. The conversation with Chelsea who took where mum to Burning Man was also very interesting and gave some thoughts about it. Compared to Nowhere, Kiwiburn has tons of real hippies and even on this burn i noticed the lack of art and lights at the paddock…
