Two days in Sydney and one night at SYD airport

(2015/03/29-31) … still had to drive about 50km to get to Sydney and thoughts about what todo there. Some people warned me about dramatical higher parking penalties in Sydney then in Brisbane. Best solution was to park at the Opera house. About 20km before Sydney, i had the idea to record the arrival as time elapse and have a ride over the famous Harbour Bridge. I haven’t imagined how big this bridge is and i was surprised about that.

Parking was really cheap, because arriving and leaving before 5pm on weekends costs $15. Lonely Planet would write now: Park very easy at the  Opera House then have a walk through the Royal Botanic Garden and head over to the Circular Quay before you have to enjoy the Harbour Bridge Pylon Lookout for the best views in all directions above the city. Then head down to The Rocks and have a rest at the Löwenbräu Keller and recharge your hops with an delicious dark draught and fill your belly with delicious pork ankle or Schweinebraten (Headlines are in German). Having a short walk around The Rocks and the International Ship Terminal, maybe you spot some nice street artists or musicians there. Stop for a while an listen or watch their shows. Walk north to the Hyde Park where you have to lay down in the grass and enjoy the sun before you return to your car to pick it up before 5pm. Drop your luggage at your accommodation (Hostel) directly on the Coogee Beach and have a walk through the totally crowded park and beach (it was Sunyday). A nice spot is at the end, Giles Bath, a pool surrounded by rocks so you can safely swim there. Enjoy your night in one of the bars at the street.

On day two, let it rain cats and dogs and skip the costal walk from the Coogee to the Bondi beach. Use the car instead and enjoy the tricky ride through the suburbs, passing innumerable roundabouts and enjoy the driving the hills up and down. At Bondi Beach, get out of the car, take a picture and return immediately to avoid getting to wet. Head to The Gap, but don’t jump, to have a look to a beautiful sandstone cliff and a nice view in the distance to the city, the Opera and the Harbour bridge. On the way to the Airport, stop at the white shinning Macquarie Lighthouse which got lighten up by some sun rays who came through the cloudy sky.

Miss your exit to the Airport and end up at the boat ramp at Port Botany where you get a a nice view to the port and landing airplanes on the airport. Upload some videos or pictures on one of the Telstra Hotspots before returning your rental car. If you didn’t had enough entertainment for the days, choose an very early domestic flight on the next day in the morning and choose to stay the night at the airport.

Homer-Simpson-DohGet thrown out of the domestic airport because it closes at 11pm and have to pack everything in a hurry to get the last bus to the international terminal which should have opened 24 hours. Realise that this is not true and have to move to the cold lobby with about 50 others who had to stay the night there. Get rid of all your remaining 400MB mobile data by an accidentally private hotspot, so your computer does an iTunes app and music download. Don’t fall a sleep because everybody got waken up for a passport and boarding pass check. Then get in panic because you notice that you have lost your only prescription sunglasses you had somewhere on your travel on domestic airport, the bus and the international airport. Enjoy the short night on the cold ground in the foyer, because everybody gets woken up at 3am by the re-opening of the terminal.
Walking down all your places, taking the train back to the domestic airport and even have a look there for your lost sunglasses. Be happy that your 25kg backpack is over the limit of 23k and still got checked in. Sat down, have a long black coffee and try to forget your loss with writing, because nobody had found and returned the glasses to Lost+Found. Upload this post to avoid further backlog and be sync with the actual date. Try to relax and don’t fall asleep now and focus on the upcoming Blazing Swan burn, no worries mate thats life!… *facepalm* *doh*
