Gold panning in Arrowton, heading to Mueller Hut

(2015/02/09-10) …what should i say? I like it, definitely a better choice for relaxing and chilling, instead watching into the stupid TV. Sadly my spot from some days before was flooded because the river had more water but i still found a good spot. The next morning was the coldest ever! 2 degrees celsius, based on the chill factor. After the river got back to it’s normal level of water i checked out another spot. Okay, i didn’t get much out of the dirt, but the fun is it worth. After a really delicious snack to warm up my fingers at the Dudleys Cottags cafe it was time to leave to the White Horse Campground on the base between Mt Cook, Mueller and Able Tasman glacier. WOW, that was a really impressive drive, Mt Cook always in front of you. A bit later the others glaciers where at some spots to see. Arrived at the late evening in noticed that i forgot to get money at an ATM to get some cash. The DOC Campground costs $10 instead of the $6 which are common for DOC campgrounds. Luckily, some other campers donated me the missing money 🙂 *yay* This campground was totally crowed and based on the weather forecast i decided to sleep in the car. While having my “dinner”, best choice the liquid one with Mount Gay Rum and Coke, i could hear the ice cracking, breaking avalanches going down on the Mueller Glacier. I really was now fascinated about my hike to the Mueller Hut tomorrow, what i will see and adventure there…
