The day after THE day and before THE day

IMG_1625(2015/01/09) …i think we both slept so good at this night and almost everything about the day before was “ad acta”. We packed everything and headed north. The new goal was Cape Reinga, camp on the most north point and go sand boarding on the dunes. About 2,5h hours and 200km was on todays list. We passed Kaitaia and the on the distance on the left side we could spot the first dunes. Sadly we was running out of fuel and out of cash. The small villages on the road wasn’t really helpful because they lacked of ATMs and gas stations, so we decided to drove back to Kaitaia for refilling our wallets and the car. 20km south of Kaitaia we spotted and DOC campground which was for free, so we changed our plans for this night and maybe a mother night. It seemed that it would be a better idea to stay there and do some sights from this base. This campground was very beautiful, had a river and some trees for shade. The tent was setup very fast and the mission was to build the cube for my HeArts art project.

IMG_1627While cutting sticks, drilling and screwing panels, i head the memory in my mind, there is an option to assemble the cube on the false sides so it would not fit the 50×50 size and i thought i did it correct. Doh! I did not! Exactly the same mistake as my sister did on the first try and the both 50×50 top-sides didn’t fit. It was now easy to reassemble them on the correct way. After this mission we had our dinner and we and two other German girls which camped next to us was invited to some local neighbours (5, between 24-26 years old) to join them for a beer. The evening was nice, i gifted a bag of wine, we listend to music, drank beer and wine. They owned an Pitbull dog named “Bruises” which seems to be very nice and told that we don’t have to be scared and he likes to be pet…
