Waterslide at Polihale into 2015

IMG_2056…waked up by the sun was a definitely better start in this year then in 2014, where my jacket, phone and keys where stolen from me and others in a bar in Munich. With the words “guten rutsch in das neue Jahr” (good slide in the new year), we wish others the best for the new year and hey should arrive and survive the NYE (New Years Eve) parties. While making my breakfast on a stick, with the last zips of my Fireball Whiskey, over the remaining of the fire the people from yesterday also awaked slowly. The locals with the girl who has birthday on the 1st January was already busy with a tarp, water hose, buckets, soap and i wondered what they will do. A waterslide was build from the dunes downwards with the goal to reach the ocean. Sadly they didn’t prepared the sand before to get a better tube and we got only a quarter for the distance, but it was still lots of fun.

In the afternoon, the Polihale Team (Lauren, Eric, Tyler and me) drove back to the next city. Eric and Lauren tried to hitchhike north wise while Tyler and me choose the laundry for washing our cloths and dry my tent on the already proven good way in the dryer. We sat together for the last time and bought some of the AWESOME self-made picture postcards from Eric and Lauren to have some souvenirs or better, very special gifts for very special burner (in my case). To say goodbye to this lovely couple wasn’t easy, they could be so perfect burners, living almost as these every day. Maybe somehow they will find their way to a small regional burn.

Sadly these machines aren’t so good as i’m used at home (Temperature: Cold,Warm,Hot?? Programs: 4??), so some of our cloth was still a bit dirty and i had forgot my hoodie, we choose another round for it. While letting them finish we wandered around in Waimea and got our early dinner. On the way back we got a message from Eric that they are back in Waimea because they have changed their plan and needed an ride back to Polihale. It’s amazing that you met so good and so short time friendships while backpacking. I wish them for their journey all the best, aloha and hang loose. Polihale, the place with awesome long beach, awesome sunsets and nice people, away from the tourist region. You have to stay and chill some days there…(2015/01/01)
