…the rain drops drummed on the roof of my car and i was happy to have a night in car and not a tent. Thinking that i can sleep a bit longer to compensate my first and worse night in the car at Walmart ended as at about 7am the first guys showed up, grabbed their boards, talking about the current surfs. Of course it’s a surf spot, why missing the perfect waves before heading to work. I did a small breakfast, brushed my teeth, shaved my face and headed north to get almost around the north side. Almost? Yes, because yesterdays try to get around the north counter clockwise was…… guess what…..one more try…… …of course CLOSED, due to road construction and maintenance, so i had to return und try it clockwise around. The road winded and curved along the cost, passing Honokoau till Kahakuloa. Done, other end of road construction reached. This trip started becoming better again, nice views to the sea, some sights and nature was getting more magic again. The only, really, disturbing thing was, that innumerable people on racing bikes, with thin tires, tried to get the small, steep and with partial bad condition and rocks on the road, up and down, not really caring about the cars behind or contrary to them. Some where surprised by my car on my side, while they was trying to cut of the curves on their side, no to mention that this road is called “highway”. The first nice sight was a blow hole, the first on my trip, with an water fountain of about 15 meters. Some warning signs said, keep of blow hole, you can be sucked in and die. A posted news article showed, exact this, men sucked into blowhole and died. Yeah, waves can be really unpredictable. Further on, the island got’s really beautiful and i was greeted by Kahakuloa Head an massive old volcanic dome. This idyllic village with an population of about 100, mostly farmers reminded me to an small hippie village, located in a valley and bay. On the way back i found the Bell-Rock which was described in the LP guide but i didn’t saw on the first ride. A massive stone where you could knock with an other hard rock on it and you should hear it knocking like a bell. Was nice to see all that concave spots on the rock where people have tried this. It was interesting that even on these moulds it didn’t bell, but i found a spot and it really sounded like silent bell. Strange, nice, done. A few meter later there where some pools, of course with warning signs that waves can spill people out of these a bit higher placed pools. Guess what? Even there people was surprised by strong waves and died because they was spilled out to the sea. I was really wondering that people went in the pools during the rough and high waves in the last days. Never mind, Darwin will solves and sort that out, not my problem. All the way back i thought about snorkelling in the Molokini Crater, but the costs of about $60 and snorkelling with hundred others, i discarded that idea and stopped at an scenic point with view to Molokini. What was that? A duded started talking to me about “Save Maui”, his project to save the nature on all that state and county parks. I already recognised that there are are not many of the trash cans, so people just drop their trash somewhere. Even the trash cans it self, made from old barrels which where already near “recycled by nature”. His idea, burner like, is to place there more barrels out of old plastic barrels, coloured, painted, graffiti on it, fixed to the ground, sand in it and holes that water can run out. Place more barrels on the park and even do regular de-MOOPing (remove the mater out of place, trash). He talked to a lot of people on this parking lot but not many was really interested to donate money for his project. I really liked his attitude and idea so gifted him $20 and hope he finds more supporter on the island. Next to this point was the local aquarium, my chance to see the missed manta rays and coloured fishes. I saw all more animals then i had on my list, even an underwater elf (for kids entertainment) who tried to explained which wildlife fishes they have here. As the noise level by all that crying and shouting kids reached an unacceptable level, i left through that awesome and incredible tunnel who went through the middle of this pools, nice. Last point on todays todo list, finding a new spot where to overnight, but where and of course, what todo tomorrow? Checking some satellite pictures on Google, it thought i spotted and place, an good one like last night. But as i arrived it was just an framer road between sugar cane, as i tried to turn around and drive back i got stuck in the mud. Oh No! Damn it! After 15 minutes driving forwards / backwards / steering left/right i got somehow out and was lucky that i made it. Finally i found the Baldwin Beach Park which had a good place to park and overnight in front of the already closed gates. The rain in the night washed a bit the mud from my car, which looked more as an rally car as an rental car. Okay, 3rd night in row in the car and i started to like it, because it felt more comfortable right now …(2014/12/17)
