…Hawai’i also known as the Big Island, is the biggest of islands called state Hawaii. What i have mentioned now is, that the pronunciation here is easier then thought, because the words are spoken like written, similar to German. I choose here to stay at Arnotts Lodge because this hostel also offers space for tents which can stay here for 7 days and provider kitchen and fridge access. Arrival was at the afternoon, picked up my small rental car and drove directly to Hilo where my space is located. The place where i’m staying is very nice, so i decided to stay here for about 8 nights till the 15th. December. Compared to the other hostels i stayed before, its very luxury and comfortable here. So i setup my tent, did an short shopping stop and thought about what todo on the first day. While driving around i was wondering where both of this +4000m high mountains are, because i cannot see them. Somewhere behind or above the clouds? Was some kind of weird to figure out where they are, in the beginning of sunset. After about 25 miles driving, it was already getting dark, it decided to drive in the Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park and check out the Kilauea crater to see the glow. I think it’s an good idea to start this as an family “tradition”, on day of arrival on this island to check out the glow in the first night 🙂 . Wow, there was a sign, 3200 feet (1000m) above seal level, what? i just drove without noticing any steep gain of the road. I bought my 7 days ticket to the national park, which was only $10 and headed to the Thomas Jagger Museum where you should have the best view in the crater. There it was, the glow, orange glowing in the mist, mysterious abyss of hell. Goosebumps covered my skin and i started feeling luckiness and happiness, to be there where some months before my sister Mephy and a friend Ka was before. Happiness, because i’m now at the real begin of my steps around the world…
