(2015/02/27) … the briefing for today was easy, except for two of us, and we had a meeting point for 4pm at the patrol station in Hawker, because it wasn’t sure if we can camp at the bottom of Wilpena Pound. Todays highlights? Black Rock (City) aka one hut with art on the road and the Big Gum Tree in Orroroo. At the meeting point in Hawker the first arrivals waited more then 2,5h hours and at 5.30pm as nobody showed up or left an phone or text message we decided to head on to the campground. The same two people who always show up late where late again! Even the mentioning of our guide that this is not acceptable, they didn’t really care about that. Somehow they have a smell for food, because when the dinner was ready, exactly at this time they showed up. An excuse? Yes, only from one of them because one of their bikes ran out of battery because they had the light ons while going to lunch (and this means to leave the key in the bike). While dinner they where laughing and telling us that, they just was 20 minutes after us at the fuel station which was our meeting point, but instead of getting on the bike again, they went to the next pub and order some drinks! Even on this day, they didn’t recognised any fault. More, they where complaining about an stupid meeting point. Totally no responsibility and awareness about all others who had to wait. The result was, that our hike to the Wilpena Pound was dismissed and we only could saw it from a picture inside of the fuel station…
